Our four-night stay at this hotel was a delightful surprise. It's perfectly located near the Spanish Steps, surrounded by charming restaurants and bars. Some reviews mentioned the small size of the rooms, and while ours was indeed compact, we knew we had booked a standard room and planned to spend most of our time exploring the city, so this wasn't a problem for us. The hotel itself is beautifully maintained, with very friendly and helpful staff. It features unique furnishings, and navigating the stairwell can feel like a maze if you opt out of using the elevator. We particularly enjoyed the rooftop breakfast venue, complete with its lovely and attentive staff. There was some noise during the night, which lasted until about 3 a.m., particularly noticeable on one evening due to an event. Although we were on the third floor and could still faintly hear the jazz bar on other nights, the noise was generally manageable. After reporting the disturbance to the front desk, they offered to move us, but we chose to stay as they assured us there would be no more events for the rest of our visit. I highly recommend this hotel for its proximity to fantastic shops and restaurants and its vibrant atmosphere.

We had a very pleasant stay for 3 nights. My husband emailed in advance to ask for a room on a high floor and were given one on the 5th . It was a visit in our special anniversary year and were left a bottle of sparkling wine which was a very nice gift. The room was small but quite adequate for a few nights. We thought it reminded us of a ship’s cabin compact but with everything you would need for a short visit. The only problem we had was that the room was extremely hot, we couldn’t get the air con to work and opening the windows didn’t help. Reception explained that the air conditioning does not work until April but turned it off for us as it was blowing out hot air until then. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly giving us plenty of information when asked. Breakfast was excellent at the very top of the Hotel with lots of choice. Sightseeing is very easy from the Hotel and there are loads of restaurants with in walking distance. We loved Rome and our time there. The Valadier is quite quirky with dark decor but for us was a perfect choice.

Lovely central hotel within walking distance to the main tourist attractions. Lots of dark marble corridors with strategically placed lighting and mirrors. In-house jazz bar open until 3 a.m. Breakfast served in the Hi-Res rooftop restaurant. Our room was annexed to the main hotel and was spacious and airy. Only issue was the sewage smell in the room which we did complain about (we were subsequently offered a room-swap).

Great hotel but could be better

There’s many great things about this hotel; the location is the best, everyone who works there was super friendly and helpful, the decor and rooms are interesting (very dated but very well cared for and clean), breakfast was amazing. However, there were some real issues we had with our room(s). First night we were above a really noisy and busy bar; like other reviews say it is really noisy!! The noise would have been almost tolerable if we could have kept the window closed but the rooms are so small and stuffy that air conditioning is essential and the air conditioning only seemed to blow out hot air. So we either roasted or were blasted with music and shouting outside. After a very long day and super early flight I was distraught. The noise eventually died down around 2:30/3am but then was woken up through the night as the road just is busy. The next day we were able to move rooms. Quiet side of the hotel so all good apart from the fact there was a putrid stench coming from the bathroom that we only noticed when we got back in the evening having had the windows closed all day. We didn’t ask to move as we had a very early start the following morning but had to keep the bathroom door closed at all times and cover over nose when we went in there. The fact that it hadn’t been picked up beforehand is probably an indication of a lack of maintenance in the hotel. For a hotel in the centre of Rome I was not expecting a quiet, modern haven but the issues we had shouldn’t have happened and the hotel could do far better.
